PostSubject: Pacesetter Dragster- Just came today.    Wed May 02, 2012 11:51 pm

Just got a Pacesetter "Vaporizer" Dragster. I will be doing a full restoration on this car soon, along with the proper paint job. I have a 16 month old son, and a 6 week old son taking up most of my time now, so this one might take awhile. Very Happy

VERY NICE!! I was asleep at the wheel when I seen this posted for sale.
At least it went to a good home.
Good luck with the build!
Pete

I took it down to the bare frame today. The chassis has been painted over a few times, and is chipping in some spots, so I think I am going to have it sand blasted, maybe power coated. I'd rather paint it, but I think taking the body on and off will scratch the paint, especialy around the roll cage. I'll just have to be careful on masking some spots if I have it coated.

Well, since I am waiting on some parts to finish the funny car, I started cleaning up some of the parts off the dragster. I am not going overboard on buffing and polishing, this car will be raced afterall. Very Happy Here is some of the rear end and a quick trial fit.

I do need to replace the chains, so if anyone has a good source for that, or knows what the chain size is, I would appreciate it.

I installed the throttle and brake servos. I did find that the steering rod would not fit correctly, so I had to invert the one servo. No big deal, had some stand offs laying around. When compated to my other car, you can see the difference in the clearance, almost double between the servo mounting plate and the cross bar.

Couple small updates.

I cleaned the engine up, and repainted the muffler with hi temp paint. I put it in for now to measure up linkages and fuel lines.

Progress

I built the electronics box that houses the battery, receiver, and also put the parachute servo coming out the side. On top I put the on/off switch and charging jacks.

Also, I got a new fuel tank, got the fuel lines put on.

I have all the electronics wired up and radio set up done.

I'm not 100% set on how I am going to route the linkages, but this is plan A so far.

At this point, if I have time, I could try and fire it up this weekend.

Sorry Paul, I inetialy thought that this was a replay of a prior post. When I read the entire thread I realized that it is new material on your ongoing restoration. Very nice job by the way, that is going to be a good looking rail.
