PostSubject: homebuilt rc nitro funny car   Wed Mar 28, 2012 2:50 am

Hi. As mentioned I am from South Africa and are in the process of building a nitro funny car. Here is a short description:

The drivetrain is from a Nanda 1/8 scale truggy as wel as the engine that is a level 28 nitro setup
Axials where fabricate from scratch, as well as the floorpan.
The rear wheels are the truggy wheels but inverted, but is going to be replaced by slick and rpm revolver rims.
The body was made by my self from balsa wood and are in the process of been moulded in fiberglass.
The wheelie bar is from carbonfibre rods and glued with epoxy.

This is just inshort what has happend so far. For the future the floorpan is going to be built completly different and I will be going for a belt drive system.

Hope you like.

Have a gr8 day

Yip it is. The whole body was constructed with Balsa wood and cover with Fibre glass. Now a mold is been made to make the body just from fibre glass

Hi

The body is going to be molded in White and as I am a graphic designer, I have designed a set of stickers, and these will be addedd to the body and protected by a clear gloss spray. see the graphic impression on the page, that is more or less the look

Lekker like a cracker windgat. Nice one. Next up, build one using 2 stroke petrol and scale it up a tad. Very insirational build, even if nitro.

Keep it up. I haven't posted any of my builds on here, just recentlt joined this group.

Cheers. Glenn - Former Saffa.

A lot has happen sins my last posting.

The Nitro motor has been replaced by a Turnigy 2400 KV motor. The engine mount was fabricated by me and all is mounted. the electronics is mounted. A blower intake was made by using electrical conduct piping, and a dummy parachute was made and test fitted. The body is being sprayed a gloss white and after that the stickers will be made. Dummy headers was made by cutting 4 sets of landing gear from a T-rex 600 heli.
